Cambodian movie receives award in the United States

Viewed as the medical Oscars, the FREDDIE’s, awarded by the International Medical and Health Agency, have sanctioned the Cambodian movie “Facing the Truth”.

Produced by Khmer Mekong Film (KMF), “Facing the Truth” has been awarded a prize in the category “Prevention”, where it outran American and Canadian productions. Also nominated in the category “Infectious Diseases”, “Facing the Truth” tells the story of two Cambodian sisters who discover at the same time that they’re pregnant and decide to take an Aids test.

The movie was shot around Phnom Penh, directed by the Cambodian, Tom Som, and written by the Brit, Matthew Robinson. It was part of the prevention campaigns around children’s health and intra-uterine transmission risks.

The award ceremony will take place on the 14th of November in Philadelphia. KMF hopes to be represented by two people, amongst whom Tom Som.
