Nhan Dan – A 220 kV transmission line linking Chau Doc in Vietnam and Takeo in Cambodia was officially launched on March 30 by Electricity of Vietnam Group (EVN) and Electricity of Cambodia (EDC). The inauguration of the line is an essential requirement to enable Vietnam to sell electricity to Cambodia.

The 220kV Chau Doc-Takeo electric line is within the framework of the agreement signed in March 2003 between the governments of Vietnam and Cambodia and an electricity sale contract signed between EVN and EDC.

Under the agreements, EVN is responsible for building the 220 kW Chau Doc power station and a 26.5 kilometres long power line linking the station to the border while EDC will build infrastructure facilities in Cambodia to receive and transmit power from Vietnam.

According to EVN, the line has a maximum transmission capacity of 200MW with an annual power production of 900 million to 1.4 billion kWh.
