FERTILISER TRUCK CAUSES TRAFFIC JAM
At least six people were injured on Saturday in an accident that was caused by an overloaded truck in Phnom Penh. The truck sustained a broken brake cord while crossing a bridge and crashed into four cars and two motorbikes. The truck driver, Heam Pheakdey, a 19-year-old man from Battambang province, was arrested by police. The accident caused a traffic jam for several hours because police could not remove the truck, which contained 40 tonnes of chemical fertiliser, from the scene.

YOUNG BOYS DIE AFTER UNEARTHING BOMB
Two boys identified by authorities as Yeoung, 4, and Vun Sy, 5, were killed Thursday after an unexploded bomb they were playing with detonated. The boys died at the scene, while two girls, Srey Mao, 16, and Chan Ry, 4, were severely wounded. The explosion occurred in Banteay Meanchey province. Police said the children found the warhead while on their way to bathe in a pond. The explosion occurred as they played with the bomb by hitting it against the trunk of a tree.

MAN INJURED IN TRAFFIC ACCIDENT
A 20-year-old man from Kampong Chhnang province, Phan Sotheara, was severely wounded in a road accident on National Road 5 on Friday. The man was riding a motorbike and drove into a van after overtaking a pick-up. The driver of the van fled the scene following the accident.

TWO SENTENCED ON DRUG CHARGES
A 22-year-old Vietnamese woman, Kao Thean Ngok, and a 42-year-old Singaporean man, Lor Sivkheng, were each sentenced to two years in prison by a Phnom Penh court on Wednesday for dealing illegal drugs. They were arrested at a hotel in Phnom Penh after 70 pills were found on the woman.

BANDITS STRIKE GOLD SELLERS AT HOME
Two gold sellers, a 60-year-old husband and his 47-year-old wife, were robbed in front of their house in Phnom Penh on Saturday morning as they were about to leave home for the market to sell their jewellery. The couple were taken to hospital after being shot and injured by the assailants. They lost cash, gold and platinum valued at US$10,000 in total, police said.
