A Ghanaian man was arrested for using and trafficking drugs after his Cambod-ian girlfriend called police on Thursday.

The suspect, Dach Nynichard, 29, came to Cambodia regularly and stayed at a rented house in Kakap commune, Dangkor district of Phnom Penh.

Nynichard and his girlfriend lived in each other for a more than month, Cambodian Vourch Heang, 44, who is Nynichard’s girlfriend, said.

A Dangkor district police officer said that “We arrested the man on November 26; we got the report from his girlfriend.”

“Nynichard was addicted and trafficked drugs. He would purchase the drugs in China, and he asked me for US$2,000 on November 23, but I did have it. I was afraid about this and I decided to call to police arrest him,” Vourch Heang said.

She added that his boyfriend goes under more than one name, with at least four bank Cambodian accounts.

“Nynichard exported drugs to India, Pakistan, Arab countries and Iraq. He had stolen accounts from banks as well.” He had failed to withdraw money under pretenses from ANZ Royal Bank, she added.

Nynichard had been jailed in Cambodia in 2006, she claimed.
