Plans to Focus on Southern Provinces

JICA and the Cambodian Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning, and Construction (MLMUPC) hold a seminar at Intercontinental Hotel to boost the south and southwest of Cambodia, aiming to increase the economy, a senior of MLMUPC official said on Friday.

MLMUPC Secretary of State Nut Naraing stated in the seminar that “the master plan we set for various priorities includes tourism, industry, agriculture, and developing international ports.”

The project covers the four provinces of Kampot, Kep, Koh Kong, and Preah Sihanouk. The regions will together be termed the ‘Khal Neak’ (Dragon) region, he added. Economist Chan Sophal told DAP News Cambodia that “If we want be a dragon, the Cambodian government should find many various counterparts to boost the Cambodian economy.”

Preah Sihanouk Provincial MLMUPC Director Sour Sok said that “The aim to develop to all beaches and the priorities in master plan is to sustain the economic sector in Cambodia.”

MLMUPC General Department Director Duch Vontyto told DAP News Cambodia that “Under the master plan, all regions will develop.”

“It will start from 2010 to 2030, it is our vision,” Vontyto explained.
