MAN RUINS VILLAGE WATER FESTIVAL
A 30-year-old man was arrested on Sunday in Takeo province’s Prey Kambah district for disturbing the peace while villagers were celebrating the Water Festival. Seng Seoung, from Kampeng commune, was intoxicated at the time and interrupted the festivities. When a police officer tried to intervene, Seng Seoung allegedly punched him in the eye. He was sent to provincial court on Tuesday.

MAN KILLS SELF OVER WIFE’S CASINO JOB
Twenty-five-year-old Chan Vibol from Meanchey district in Phnom Penh hanged himself Wednesday after his wife, who is 18 years old, requested his permission to work at a casino in Svay Rieng province. Sadness that she wanted to leave home and jealousy about her new job opportunity prompted him to commit suicide, said police, who also confirmed that no foul play was involved in his death.

MAN HAS AN AX TO GRIND WITH RELATIVE
A 44-year-old man from Romeah Hek district in Svay Rieng province sustained severe injuries after his brother-in-law attacked him with an ax last Friday, police said. The victim, Sek Phap, from Trapang Phdov commune, was drinking with 38-year-old Mey Sean. When his brother-in-law decided to leave early, Sek Phap complained. Mey Sean became angry and cut him on the chest, police said. The victim was rushed to the hospital after his family heard him yelling.

YOUNG GIRL RAPED FOR 3,500-RIEL DEBT
A 14-year-old teenager from Svay Teal commune in Kandal province was arrested on Wednesday for the rape of an 11-year-old girl. After finding signs that their daughter was sexually assaulted, the victim’s parents contacted the police. The suspect confessed to the rape and said he did it because she owed him 3,500 riels.

UNCLE ARRESTED FOR RAPING NIECE
Pursat provincial police arrested a 28-year-old man for raping his 22-year-old niece on Wednesday. The man allegedly lured the victim into a rice field in Kampong Por commune by telling her that her father had been bitten by a snake. The victim said she was raped three times in a small cabin. However, the suspect confessed to raping the girl only twice, police said.
