Feng Tain Wei of Singapore (right, red shirt) competes against Mai Xuan Hang of Vietnam during their SEA Games women’s table tennis Group A second-round match Tuesday at the National University Convention Hall in Vientiane. Feng took her game in straight sets 11-5, 11-7, 12-10, and compatriot Wang Yuegu was simply too much for Vietnamese player Mai Hoang My Trang, winning 11-2, 11-7, 11-1, and Zena Sim helped win the tie 3-0 for Singapore with a 11-9, 11-4, 6-11, 11-2 four set victory over Pham Thi Thien Kim. The team had earlier Tuesday given hosts Laos a similar 3-0 stuffing. Singapore are looking for a repeat of the 2007 SEA Games in Khorat, Thailand, which saw them storm to a perfect seven golds from seven events. In the women’s Group B, Thailand are in the driver’s seat with a 3-0 win over Indonesia followed by a thrilling 3-2 victory against fancied Malaysia.
