GE has announced that the GE's Healthy imagination initiative, which focuses on creating better health for more people, is commissioning three new hospitals across Cambodia, as part of its program.
As per a partnership with the Cambodian ministry of Health, GE aims at improving the access to quality healthcare in the developing world by taking care of the loopholes in the existing healthcare system.
The Kampot Referral hospital was commissioned on March 10, 2010, the Sihanouk Referral hospital on March 11, and the Takeo Referral hospital on March 12.
Many top officials of GE and its associated programs, lead GE ambassadors to Cambodia, and some important Cambodian officials attended the commissioning.
“As the Developing Health Globally program expands across Cambodia, we are witnessing the sustainable impact of GE's products and people,” Bob Corcoran, vice president of corporate citizenship at GE Corporation, said.
“The Government of Cambodia, through the Ministry of Health, thanks GE for its continued support of our health centers,” also said H.E. Sea Huong, Under Secretary of State for Cambodia, adding that this investment would bring systemic change and provide broader healthcare access to the people of Cambodia, in communities where it was needed most.
Launched in Africa in 2004 with the support of the GE Foundation and GE’s Affinity Networks, Developing Health Globally now extends to 14 countries across Africa, Latin America and Southeast Asia. The program aims to improve access to quality healthcare for some of the world’s most vulnerable populations.
