DANCE FLOOR TOO HOT FOR EIGHT PARTIERS
Eight men who traded blows instead of moves on the dance floor at a party in Banteay Meanchey province were arrested on Saturday by police in Ou Chrov district. One man was sent to provincial court after he allegedly resisted police intervention, injuring one officer in the process, police said. The remaining offenders were sent for education on party etiquette and released after their guardians signed behaviour contracts.

MAN BRINGS GUN TO MOTHER'S FUNERAL
Military police have accused two men in Svay Rieng province of possessing illegal weapons after one of the suspects allegedly brought an AK-47 assault rifle to his mother’s funeral. Svay Tiep district military police said the pair was arrested after the funeral as the second suspect, the brother-in-law of the man who brought the gun, tried to dispose of the weapon near his house. Both men were sent to court on Sunday.

OLD DOG CAN’T SHAKE OLD TRICKS
A 52-year-old woman accused of pickpocketing was apprehended at a market in Kampong Speu province on Saturday by an angry mob of vendors. Police say the mob, who had long suspected her of thieving, brought her to the local police station after beating her and injuring her face. The woman confessed to her crime at the police station, police said, though they added that they are still looking for an accomplice.

MAN THREATENS TO KILL FATHER-IN-LAW
A man who allegedly threatened to kill his father-in-law because he would not let the man take his wife back home was arrested in Kampong Chhnang province on Friday. Som Roang Tong district police said the suspect’s wife was recuperating from an illness at her father-in-law’s house when her husband burst in with a rifle and threatened to kill her dad. The father-in-law was able to make a hasty escape but could not avoid a torrent of shoes and stones that the suspect allegedly hurled at him as he ran to safety. Police say the man is a notorious alcoholic who has just been released from prison and offers no support to his wife.
