DEPRESSED WOMAN TAKES HER OWN LIFE IN KEP
The body of a 20-year-old vendor was found hanging by a white handkerchief in her house in Kep on Wednesday, according to the woman’s relatives, who are struggling to explain why she apparently took her own life. Her relatives reported that the woman had been selling as per usual the morning her body was found. Her mother, however, said that the woman had appeared to be very sad in recent days, and that she had been praying constantly and talking about her deceased father, who had passed away last year.

IRON BAR ATTACK LEAVES COPS LOOKING FOR MOTIVE
A 22-year-old basket-maker was assaulted under mysterious circumstances in Poipet town last week, according to police. Investigators said the man was minding his own business as he collected money from customers when a group of “gangsters” came up from behind and hit him over the head with an iron bar. The man reported that he had been working as a basket-maker for just three days and had never had an argument with anyone, making the assault all the more puzzling. Police arrested a 15-year-old boy suspected in the attack, but other suspects managed to escape.

DEAF ASSAULT VICTIM ALERTS HER PARENTS
Police in Kandal province have arrested a 23-year-old farmer accused of raping a deaf girl. Police said the girl, 15, and the suspect were watching television in the evening when the farmer allegedly forced the girl outside and assaulted her. Her parents filed a complaint to local police immediately after the girl used hand gestures to tell them what happened. The suspect allegedly confessed to police that he had raped the girl.

REJECTED MAN ACCUSEDIN WOMAN'S MURDER
Police in Battambang province have arrested a 31-year-old man accused of slashing a woman to death last Sunday. Police say the love-spurned man killed the victim, 18, after she rejected his amorous advances. It is alleged the man stabbed the woman five times with a knife. Police say the man escaped after the attack, but was found hiding out in a nearby forest.

MOTODOP DEAD AFTER GANGSTER ATTACK
A 29-year-old motodop living in Siem Reap town was beaten to death last Thursday while returning from a guesthouse with a friend, police said. Investigators said a group of “gangsters” pounced on the man when he was about to start his vehicle. The friend escaped, but the man fell to the ground and was beaten. No arrests have been made.
