Advertising company DURIAN SMS released a statement yesterday encouraging firms to send advertisements by SMS to the Kingdom’s mobile- phone users. With clients ranging from the River House to ANZ Royal Bank, Durian claimed its SMS marketing enables customers to execute advertising “using nothing more than a desktop PC and a contact list”.

Thaicom’s operations in Cambodia lose $4m

THAICOM, owner of Cambodian DTV Network and 51 percent owner of mobile provider Mfone, reported a turnaround loss of US$3.9 million in its Cambodian operations for the first half of 2010, according to results released yesterday. It cited a “price war” and “intense competition” among the Kingdom’s nine mobile service providers. Thaicom made a $5.8 million profit in the same period of 2009.
