Dear Editor,

Nowadays, a lot of traffic lights have been set up in Phnom Penh. The traffic lights help people to avoid traffic jams. Violators are always disobeying the rules.

Some of the traffic lights cause traffic jams because they don’t have the left turn signal. I think the government should set up the right traffic lights. Phnom Penh will remain in good condition if people try to obey the rules.

One problem is when the red light is going to turn green, people are starting to go through the red light. It is very dangerous because on the other parts of the road, people are also driving faster to pass through the green light.

The second problem is some traffic lights are not in good condition. On smaller roads, we can see some traffic lights don’t have the signal to move left. It causes traffic jams with the people moving left and the people going forward on the other side of the road.

The third problem is many drivers stop their vehicles on the crosswalk sign when they stop their vehicle for the red light. They should stop behind the crosswalk sign. Then, it will be easy for people to cross the road.

People shouldn’t break the law of the traffic lights. They should obey the law. Police should punish the people who break the law. The driver of every vehicle should make a space for pedestrians to cross the road when they stop for a red light. I think the government should set up the right traffic lights for some busy roads. Then, there won’t be any traffic jams because of the traffic lights.
